Travel Diary #46 : Back to Asia

Hi, I'm back here !

After 6 months in Barcelona (a city I considered staying in for life for a while), I am finally back on the other side of the planet, where scooters replace the subway... Indonesia ✨

My plan was to come back here a year ago, but Covid decided otherwise. And I can only be happy about this course of events, because this setback allowed me to meet some really cool people, and to set foot on the African continent for the first time.

Throwback to my winter in Morocco :

I am writing today from Uluwatu, in the southern part of Bali, where I decided to stay for a while.

This life seems like a no-brainer, yet I've encountered a lot of resistance.

The idea of backpacking is much easier than settling somewhere long-term. While backpacking makes it easy to escape life’s slightest difficulties, settling down somewhere is accepting to face its obstacles.

My first few days here were filled with doubts, fears, and resistance, but I am lucky to be well-surrounded and those worries are starting to fade. And well…let's be honest, it's pretty easy to see the bright side in this environment :

This time I am not traveling alone but accompanied by my partner in crime, Adam.

Back to my Asian habits : here is what we eat almost every day for around 40.OOO Indonesian Rupiahs (approximately 2,50€).

Our home for the month :

Chery and Nana are an Indonesian couple who run “Ancala” with a masterful hand. They created this peaceful place where you feel at home, in addition to having the most beautiful view of the area.

I'm slowly adapting to this new life, letting go of fears and welcoming every encounter and opportunity while sipping fresh coconuts. Let’s see what the future holds for me …

See you in the next one,

Lo’
