Travel Diary #49 : Kittens & Evil spirits 👹

Hello from Balian Beach! I'll tell you about my solo trip here in the northwest of the island next week. For now, here are some pictures of the last few weeks :

Let me introduce you to Kecak, a fire show mixing song, dance and theatre with a breathtaking view of the ocean. The show took place at the famous temple of Uluwatu, perched on the cliffs of the peninsula.

This traditional performance comes from an ancient Balinese ritual called Sanghyang, a form of exorcism where evil spirits must be repelled by dancers entering into a trance.

There are no musical instruments during the show, only an all-mens’ "vocal percussion choir”. Meanwhile, women’s arms move like snakes and fire is blown by the wind to create a unique moment that puts you in a hypnotic state.

Later that week, I was tasked with the job of looking after two kittens. It was the best excuse for me to spend time in the dream house of my friend in Uluwatu. I took the opportunity to take some real estate pictures :

That’s all for this week :)

See you in the next one !
