Travel Diary #34 : And my next destination is…🥁

Hi there !

Before I left the little town of Aracena, I had the chance to meet Nerea, a Spanish artist from Santiago. Nerea aka PelosdeMozart is the creative friend I always dream on having. The one that has a suitcase full of Posca pens, aquarelle and craies and that secretly draws portraits of you while you’re working. We spent only a week together but I’m really grateful our paths crossed.

I've been in Cadiz for a few days now and I already feel very comfortable here. The sweet weather, the relaxed mentality, the traditional balconies, the white stones architecture…everything reminds me of Malta, so I kind of feels like home.

It must be the mix of cultures… on some squares you would think you were in Italy, in some streets in Morocco, but the flamenco music everywhere outside is always reminding you’re in the heart of Andalusia. This is what I’m hearing right now as I am writing this article in my hostel room :

This peninsula has an island vibe that I love. I enjoy to get lost in the tiny streets - where you can't even walk if a wide car passes you - and go back to the same café every day to write.

I think I really like the small town atmosphere. The ones where you recognize the shop owners after a few days and where you feel like a local after a week. The ones that makes you feel like home 2 000km away from home.

Life is sweet, and I take time to enjoy my lasts days in Spain. I’m frustrated to be leaving just as my Spanish is getting better and at the same time I can’t wait to fly to my new destination.

Wish me luck to not get stuck at the airport…travelling during the pandemic is a hell of an adventure. So, where do you think I go next ? 🥁 (c’mon, don’t be shy leave a comment below)

Hasta luego 👩🏼‍💻
